Although being the persnickety sort of guy I am ... I took notice of the "leave your theocracy out of our democracy" sticker.
The USA has never been a "democracy" in the true sense of the word.
At best, the USA was established and maintained as a "constitutional (representative) republic".
Although, at the current time (since 1861 to be exact, and later enforced/strengthened at various points in recent history) we are probably much closer to being a "constitutional dictatorship".
That said, as far as theocracies go, those are also a bad idea: insofar as the only modern "theocracies" in existence (the so-called "Islamic Republics") are either embroiled in nasty wars amongst each other, or are targets for our warmongering administration to go after.
Or we leave for Israel to "have fun with".
The trouble with theocracies are this: no government can really be trusted in the care of human hands.
The only true and successful theocracy there can be is when God Himself (Jesus) returns and directly rules humankind; until then, the best thing we have is our representative republic (which when allowed to properly function, should minimize abuse by the application of accountability, that is, checks and balances).
I'd also like to mention that a massive, nation-wide repentance per Nineveh's example would be the best option... but I have a feeling that won't be well received by our generation. :P
I like the liberal shirt best. It's so interesting how most fags buy shirts like "Pitcher" "Let's play soldier. I'll lay down, and you blow the hell out of me." Etc. Hopefully these will bring you smiles and help you carry a liberal aura all around Dallas.
"Democracy" does not mean the same thing as "direct democracy". We live in a "representative democracy", but a democracy nonetheless.
And your bit about theocracy was a bit creepy..... Sorry, but even if Jesus *did* come back, a theocratic dictatorship run by him would *not* be just, even if he is the holy one. I'm just glad you don't think, unlike some Christians, that Bush was chosen by God to rule "the greatest country on God's green Earth" (to quote another blogger). Now that I think of it, how do you know Bush *isn't* Jesus? Maybe we should all follow him.
I believe that America was intended by the founding fathers to be a republic...
According to Ron Paul (congressman from Texas), Ben Franklin stated an answer to a question from a Mrs. Powel:
"At the close of the Constitutional Convention in Philadelphia on September 18, 1787, a Mrs. Powel anxiously awaited the results, and as Benjamin Franklin emerged from the long task now finished, asked him directly: 'Well Doctor, what have we got, a republic or a monarchy?'
'A republic if you can keep it' responded Franklin."
I can't argue that that is the current state of our government; after all, time has changed certain republican aspects of this government (various ammendments concering election procedures and civl rights, and extension of suffrage beyond the initial franchised class of male Anglo-Saxon landowners) to make it more fundamentally "democratic".
In my opinion, we have gradually shifted to a virtual "constitutional dictatorship" (where the dictatorship was at times more evident than at other times, to wit, FDR's presidency and every presidency since Reagan until today. With the virtual single-party rule the Republicans enjoy at present, Dubya (or his handlers like Herr Rove) have a carte blanche to do as they please.
As for Bush being Christ, I don't think so. He isn't the antichrist either. He fails on several key tests for being either the King of Kings, or the Son of Perdition.
I might say that on a good day, he (Dubya) is probably capable of operating on the intellectual level of a baboon, but I would not want to be too disrespectful of our C-in-C.
As for Jesus, He is the only one capable of rightly (as in correctly and righteously) governing all of humanity's fractious families, and He shall rule ALL nations with a rod of iron.
Fair? Just? Definitely not by *our* human standard of measure. But let's give Him the benefit of belief for a moment: He is the Son of God.
When He does return, He has promised that He will make all things right in this world. I think He just might be the One to pull it off. :)

Nice thing about living in Texas is that you can cut off SUVs with W stickers. I will absolutely never let Republicans merge in traffic.
