Staying The Course On The Ship Of Fools

Staying The Course

This screen capture from The Huffington Post says it all. It links to this article at The Washington Post.

Looks like this was the wrong course (told ya so!), and what was that bit about the culture of life?

I'm going to take an optimistic stance and say that all is not completely lost and use this as a learning experience. Its not hard now to educate people that unilateralism is not good foreign policy and just because you think he's a "good guy" doesn't mean he'd make a good president. We need to get some real representation in congress in the fall and then we need to make sure that we select someone who has minimum qualifications for the presidency, preferably someone with success in previous jobs would help too. Furthermore, from now on if I hear the conservatives and republicans spinning their "We have solutions and thats why people vote for us" rhetoric I'm going to refer them to the above image.

Excellent plan, and let's not just apply that to one side of the spectrum. That's the philosophy we should demand in politicians full stop.

How about a test? I had to take a test once to get a job, actually a couple times at different places. Don't we want a President running our country to possess a certain level of intellect that Bush doesn't have?

We dont allow just any idiot to be a Doctor or a Lawyer, why can any idiot be Presdient?

I love that I said idiot over and over and then mistyped "President".

"Staying The Course On The Ship Of Fools"...

I would like to think that it is time for wiser men (and women) to jump ship:

a) perhaps my cynicism of the American political system will be proven wrong, in that the elections might not be rigged or manipulated and that we might actually see our desire for a chnaging of the guard, at least in the House. It can't really be that hard for 13-15 seats to change hands now can it...?

b) Said "new blood" will _actually_ follow up on thier campaign promises and stand up to the Fourth Reich on the Potomac, that fatcat oilman cabal that current is -destroying-... erm, governing our nation.

c) Oh, and that a significant majority (or at least a plurality) of people will wake up and stop eating from the same old tired plates of the current administration.

Where did it all go wrong? Yeah that is a loaded question huh? I have some serious doubts about this country and the way we have been choosing our battles. Someone can launch missiles and test "weapons of mass destruction" and we do nothing, BUT didn't we start a full on war 5 years ago for just suspecting that someone might possibly have some hidden? Have they found those yet, nope I don't think so. I’m at a loss...

P.S. Adam, I thought we already had a president with minimum qualifications, look where that got us… His only qualifications are he successfully pulled a panty raid at the Zeta Alfa Gamma house at Yale.
