Evening Thoughts

Does anybody else see that Brownie is taking it up the ass bigtime for the team? This man comes out today guns blazing saying that it wasnt FEMA's fault and that the blame for Katrina should fall squarely on the shoulders of the Gov. of LA and the Mayor of New Orleans. Rove scripted this one beautifully I have to give him credit for this one. Its clear to me that Brownie was told to say all of this and be a remorseless ass so as to shift the nation's contempt from the president to Brown.

Television

Brad and I have started a new television show once again thanks to the best thing since indoor plumbing, TiVo. The show, "Transgeneration," follows four college students that are transgender. Each one of them are at different stages in their college career as well as their transformation.

This topic fascinates me because I cannot imagine what it must be like to be one of these people. I have always been lured into documentaries about people with crisises of the psyche. One of the profiled students, Gabbie (a male to female), was speaking about how she could not wait for her sex reassignment surgery. She was speaking about how she wished she were able to become intimate with someone or even herself and that she had no attachment to her penis. The way she was speaking it was as if it would have been no different if an ear was where her penis was, it simply had no meaning for her. That simply boggles me.

This isn't my first exposure to tansexuals but one question that I always have in the back of my mind is how are these people so certain that their sex is incorrect. There has to be some portion of people that go through this that do it for the wrong reasons. After the first episode I suspect that one of the students, TJ (a female to male), is more or less taking her new found college freedom to an extreme given that she is from a conservative european family. Im eager to see the rest of the series.
